Rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries are one type of alkaline storage battery and classified as secondary batteries. Ni-Cd battery has a positive electrode made of nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode made of cadmium, and an alkaline electrolyte. They are designed by IEC 285 as alkaline secondary cells and batteries "Sealed nickel-cadmium cylindrical rechargeable single cells".
