In India, most of the end users are importing Ni Metal of LME grade, Utility Nickel Metal, Ni Master Alloy, and Ni powder (carbonyl powder). The specifications of Utility Ni are as follows:
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION OF UTILITY NICKEL
Ni: 97% min, Co= 1.4% max, Fe=0.7% max, Cu=0.4% max,
C=0.2% max, S=0.1% max, Si= 0.1% max, P= 0.005% max
Size: 3-80 mm shots
However LME grade Nickel is having high purity and as per LME code it should meet specifications as per ASTM B 39-79 (2013) with Min 99.80 % purity or GB/T 6516-2010-Ni 9990 grade. Typical specs as per ASTM are as follows:
Ni-99.8% (Min), Co- 0.15% (Max), Cu- 0.02% (Max), C- 0.03% (Max), Fe-0.02% (Max), S -0.015 (Max), P, Mn, Si, As, Pb, Sb, Bi, Sn, &Zn -All element below 0.005%
Normally they are supplied as Cathode, Briquetts, & Pallets.
Powder is another form and also supplied as Carbonyl Ni Powder.
